Our marine and primary industry team is headed up by Jeff Walker. Jeff worked as a diver and fisherman before studying to become a lawyer. He holds a Commercial Launchmasters Certificate, was one of the first marine farmers at Stewart Island and is a director of Rakiura Shipping Limited which operate a marine cargo service between Bluff and Rakiura / Stewart Island.

Because of Jeff’s maritime experience he has been actively involved with legal issues relating to  aquaculture and the fishing industry. When the Quota Management System (QMS) was introduced Jeff conducted many Appeals on behalf of fishermen in both the South and North Island.  He has assisted many in fishing industry over his 40+ years as a lawyer.
